Ive gotten particularly good at mindfulness meditation and im able to hold concentration whether it be while relaxing or walking around quite well. However i know that for proper trance type meditations im supposed to be able to remain mindful during deep states that border on sleep or at least have the same general brain functioning as sleep. However once i get to a certain point dreams start taking over and i cant help but become distracted and despite still being "conscious" im unable to focus on my mindfulness. My ultimate goal is to be able to reach REM states or the equivalent of in meditation while still mindful. I need adviceeee!

WIND CHIMES (a poem)?

Okay, I’ve written a poem b4 and a couple peeps have read it. This time I didn’t make it rhyme so here it goes

Wind chimes slowly play your song in my heart
Fill it with your stunning sound
Your magnificent depth
Make my heart sing
Make it jump for joy

Wind chimes, as you peacefully lull me to sleep
Let sway, sway in my dreams
Of happiness and hopes for tomorrow
Let me close my eyes
And sleep until the shining sun awakens me
To another tomorrow

A question on Vipassana Meditation?

So I’ve been practicing for a month or so now everyday. I can only sit in half lotus posture and I do it for 20 minutes or a little more every day. Now recently I notice that whenever I sit that my mind is very fast paced (I don’t know what word to use). It’s like I have no control of my mind at all in fact. I can’t relate myself to the mind it almost feels like I am not my thoughts. Maybe because I have began to sit before I go to sleep instead of when I wake up. Here are my problems though, I know that whenever a problematic thought arises that you just pay it mindful attention. The problem is whenever a thought arises and I then turn my attention to it instead of my breath temporarily that it dissipates completely. This though feels like it isn’t because of my mindfulness, but because of a pre-conceived notion that makes them go away. I don’t know how to explain it. Also I have a question about how I can apply Vipassana into everyday waking state. Even if I am not sitting how can I be mindful of what I am doing? This is the problem, whenever I turn my attention towards something and notice for example "I am studying", then I lose complete control of studying and lose track. Is that even being mindful or is it something else? It feels like my mind automatically attaches itself to that thought. How can I stop this? Is it even possible to be mindful every waking moment without losing concentration? I had another question, but I can’t remember at the moment. Serious answers please, thanks. Only answer about the topic and nothing else. I would appreciate that.

Are you experienced meditator?
I have been doing Insight(mindfulness) …And Chanting(aum).
They each have own "feel"….Insight helps reign in internal dialog that might lead to states that are not good.
Tranquility helps calm and I can sleep 7 to 8 hours a night.
Is it necessary to stick to one method?
necessary for what.?…
I like to leave that blank …
expectations, I hear, are not conducive to practice.

I am very interested in Buddhist meditation, but I have a curious doubt. How do Buddhists suggest that one gets asleep? I can identify the following differences between the Mindfulness of Breathing and falling asleep:
- if meditation requires to be relaxed but with standing spine, sleep would imply relaxation but not standing spine;
- if meditation requires following thoughts but not sticking to them neither driving them off, sleep would require (I assume, since there are no indications) letting the mind free to wander. Maybe not to follow disturbing thoughts, though.
These differences are too few to prevent me from meditating when falling asleep; however, that would NOT be meditation, because meditation requires awareness and wakefulness. Could a person following Buddhist practice, especially in the West, tell me what they do to fall asleep? I know the question sounds strange, but an answer would allow me to better understand the matter and to both meditate better and fall asleep better. Thank you!

How can I feng shui a trap door?

I have an attic trap door in my bedroom ceiling. It makes the whole bedroom creepy. I can’t see paying rent for an apt where I sleep in the livingroom. Anyone know how I can cure this gloom with feng shui?
It is about 2 feet by two feet and sits in a corner 4 feet from one wall and two feet from another.

I just started to become interested in Feng Shui. I plan to get a book about this subject because I know very little. I thought I heard that if you put your bed parallel to the bedroom window that all of your positive energy will go out the window while you sleep? Is this true? I’ve had my bed like this for years and my life has sucked. Also, I have a couch that somebody gave me. I also read that you shouldn’t take furniture from anyone because of all their negativity could be brought into your home. Is it okay to accept secondhand if you really need something?
I live in an apartment building. The layout of the bedroom is pretty cookie cutter and standard. There is just a parking lot outside the window. I am in a bottom floor/basement apt.
