Help with this sonnet?? Please?

I have this sonnet for a project for English (we’re reading Shakespeare), and…I don’t know which ending to choose for the sonnet. Also, if you have any pointers or criticisms, they would be much appreciated! I won’t be offended if you tell me the sonnet is horrible, as long as you tell me why.

"Living"

Of clocks that tick and tock and tell of time
Of winds that pass, whisp’ring of happy days
Still lingering with ev’ry lone clock’s chime.
Is it not cruel, the art of Deaths’ dark ways?
It sweeps, a cold and unforgiving hand
Stealing away a soul so closely kept,
Slipping through one’s fingers like dry, coarse sand.
So countless lost and gone many have wept.

Ending 1:
However can a man bear to go on?
Is it not enough to bear grief and pain?
In this game of chess, people are life’s pawn.
Yet throughout all the storms, thunder, and rain,
Watch as the clouds part, and look for the sun.
If you never try, you’ll never have won.

Ending 2:
Heart’s hopes all fading and mind’s dreams all lost,
A light extinguished—a melting candle,
One instant, a life is forever paused.
Some relinquish, release their own handle.
Some hold on, not blinded by what they see.
Some lift their heads high, and others live free.

By the way, I originally had the first ending but scrapped it because someone told me it wasn’t relevant to the rest of the sonnet. What do you think?

I’m not moving my chime, they didn’t use it last year, so I was there first!

Need a solution to wireless motion detector?

I have outdoor motion detectors installed on my house but have an area about 200′ from the house that I would like place a motion detector but have no electric there. I saw a wireless motion detector that can be placed away from the house and it will cause a chime to go off in the house. My question is: Does anyone know of a system like this but instead of having it set off a chime in the house, can it activate one of my outdoor lights. That seems more effective, especially if I’m not home?

Thanks!!!
Based on the 2 good responses to my question, please allow we to refine my question a little.

I do have a solar system that I use in a different part and that works well. The problem I have is that I don’t want the lights themselves in that part of the yard because they can be vandalized in that area. My ultimate goal is to have the detector back there where it will not be noticeable and have it trigger the spots on my house which do shine back there. Some of these types of systems appear to use a technology called X10 but I can’t seem to find any that trigger outdoor lights remotely, just chimes. I was just hoping someone found one and was successful with it.
Thanks.

Do you like this short story i wrote?

Just a little something i think some people will feel strongly about: (be honest!)

I woke up. My chest punching the air. My forehead sweating in drops. My feet were obviously given a mind of their own for tonight because they were not to be stopped. My hands… hands that couldn’t be mine…could they? I had no idea what they were going to do next after every minute passed by. They feathered their fingers across every cool, brass doorknob, until they reached the outside door. My bare toes padded across the jagged gravel, while the lukewarm wind gushed around and through every crevasse of my body. The tendons in my legs pulled at the muscles in my legs until my joints were moving up, and down… up and down…up…down….And i was there. Just like that my body with a mind of its own brought me here. I stood there. My hair grabbed and kissed at my soft, milky cheeks while the wind danced with every strand of hair it pulled along with it across my face. My eyes lured across the glossy water above the cliff i was standing on. How is it possible for a person to feel so hollow? So dried up and burnt inside? The old willow standing next to me was my companion. He felt my pain. With every gust of wind i heard its leaves cry out to the charcoal night, with every tug at its branches they moaned. A ways a way i heard a slight rustiling; and at that same time i looked down, there lied a stunning maple leaf. It floated right next to my foot and stuck there, just like a good old friend. All in a flick though, it vanished as it blew off the cliff and into the chill of the water below. Kapeesh. Gone. Like every person in my life, like every memory, like my past, like every daydream, like every chime of a laugh that escaped from my tongue.Gone. Suddnely, i knew why i was here. I took a positive step forward , standing next to the hollow willow. The moon glared down at me as i saoked up its illuminescense. I knew what it must be thinking. "You silly girl. You silly, naive little girl." But who cares what the moon thinks anyways, right? At that, i took a step closer. My nose tilted toward the heavans, my eyes closed and pointed toward the depths of the earth, and with a quick swallow of the tasty air, my lips parted into a smile thought to be gone forever. Left foot, right foot, left foot, and…. I jumped.

Can I sue a hotel chain for faulty workout equipment?

I was wondering if I’d have some type of case against a large hotel chain for faulty workout equipment. What I mean is that the workout equipment was in bad shape to begin with but while workout out on the leg press the pin that slide in between the weights popped out and caused the foot plates on the leg press to kick back right into my shin. This then caused me to pass out because of the amount of blood which led to a nice knot in the back of my head and then to the hospital for 8 stitches to close the wound. There was no one around when i passed out in their fitness area so when i passed out i woke myself up when the chime of a text message on my phone went off. After i gained my "legs" and composure back i was able to make it to the front desk where they just wanted to bandage it, but I insisted that it was much worse and since i was from out of town i wanted to get it checked out. the ems did arrive and said i should get stitched back up. and then the rest of the story is pretty much cut and dry…got a tetanus shot cause i was over due then the 8 stitches. This will probably cause me to miss out on my sales calls tomorrow and also will prohibit me from workouts for my lower body when i was competing in a bodybuilding show in 10 weeks. Just kinda wondered if anyone had any insight.

thanks

What do you think of this poem?

I was planning to preform it at a Christian Coffee House.

Things are not always what they seem
In your life or in your dreams
What I want isn’t always what I need
I must live life the way it comes to be
Whatever rattles make my bones shake
Through the journey that I must partake
Trying so hard to please those around
Not ever satisfied with their frowns
Nothing left to do than just blaming yourself
As you feel them put your dreams on a shelf
Sometimes you feel so small and used like a dime
Or blown away by the wind like a delicate chime
Pushed like the waves coming in and out with the tide
Or being on a rollercoaster that you don’t want to ride
But one person knows all of this and more
He is waiting for you to just open the door
Watch daily for his written and spoken word
Don’t listen to others that say this is absurd
It’s the one phone call that you don’t want to miss
He wants to help you believe that He exists
The one who understands you through it all
Who is there to help you every time you fall
There is nothing in the world that you cannot face
When you have the indescribable power of his grace
Leaving every bad thing that you do
Leading you through all things that are new
Letting you have the strength to always be true
Loving every part of you that just makes you, you.

How can poetry affect the world?

Bells of Blue

Beads of bell tones
gently trickling on my ears
The chime of wind
moving in crystalline rhythm
Dances of dew down daisies dress
and the ending of a natural era
Mother’s Garden wilts in bloom
Fumes rising in summer heat
The rain would eat the skin
The air
stifles the rose childs’ blossom
Forever on and anew
men seek gain
their business gongs
drowning out dews chime
Their greed
tramples the orchards of
Gaia
as we tiptoe through the flowers…

An issue that is close to my heart. Would you help me in answering the question, how can poetry affect the world…?

these are the lyrics…

Like the wallpaper sticks to the wall
Like the seashore clings to the sea
Like you’ll never get rid of your shadow
Frank, you’ll never get rid of me

Let all the others fight and fuss
Whatever happens, we’ve got us.

Me and my shadow
We’re closer than pages that stick in a book
We’re closer than ripples that play in a brook
Strolling down the avenue
Wherever you find him, you’ll find me, just look
Closer than a miser or the bloodhound’s to Liza
Me and my shadow
We’re closer than smog when it clings to L.A.
We’re closer than Bobby is to J.F.K.
Not a soul can bust this team in two
We stick together like glue

And when it’s sleeping time
That’s when we rise
We start to swing
Swing to the skies
Our clocks don’t chime
What a surprise
They ring-a-ding-ding!
Happy New Year!

Me and my shadow
And now to repeat what I said at the start
They’ll need a large crowbar to break us apart
We’re alone but far from blue

Before we get finished, we’ll make the town roar
We’ll make all the late spots, and then a few more
We’ll wind up at Jilly’s right after Toot’s Shore
Life is gonna be we-wow-whee!
(Here comes the party!)
For my shadow and me!

Say Frank?
What is it, Sam?
Do me a favor?
What do you want, now?
Would you mind taking it, just one more time?
From the top?
No! From the ending!
Wonderful!

And while we are swinging, to mention a few
We’ll drop in at Danny’s, The Little Club too
But wind up at Jilly’s, whatever we do
Life is gonna be we-wow-whee!
(Wow!)
For my shadow and me!

Frank?
Oh, forget it Sam.

What about "we’ll make the town roar" that is personification right.
